Vision Resource Center May 2016 Calendar and Events

April was an outstanding month for all of us at the Vision Resource Center, and May is slated to be a busy and productive month as well! We have a brand new event that we are hosting coming up: The Out of Sight Wing Fling on May 7th (details below!) as well as multiple opportunities for education and enrichment. We’re also in preparations for an exciting trip to Washington DC in June!

But First….Some Thank Yous:

We want to thank Haymount United Methodist Church and OperationInAsMuch, for a great experience for our group at the Luke 14 Banquet.

It was a great time of fellowship, fun, and food. Thank you also to the Cape Fear Regional Theatre for offering such an excellent production of “Arsenic and Old Lace.” It’s a great show and those of us from the VRC who attended thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience there. And a huge shoutout to Millstone 14 for their excellent customer service in our private showing of “The Jungle Book.” Our kids enjoyed every minute of it. We had the best service from the staff there, and the Descriptive Movie Assistive Technology allowed some of our group to experience movies again with reduced sight! Lastly, thank you to Community Concerts for 14 tickets to Jay Leno last month. We had a blast at the show–it was a great experience for all of our group that attended!

A Message from Our Executive Director, Terri Thomas

Our participants need the skills. However, the skills cost so much money. Can you imagine waking up and your sight is gone, all you once knew is no more. Wouldn’t you want to have the skills to continue in life sightless? …..I know you all would !!!! Help us to continue making a DIFFERENCE, See you all on this Saturday, May 7th, 3:00-7:00 p.m. J.P. Riddle Stadium, Home of the SwampDogs. Tickets: $5.00 General Admission, $3.00 Seniors/Military, $2.00 Children under 13.
