2nd Annual “Out of Sight” Wing Fling on June 24th Hosted by Mountainaire Farms, Array Magazine, and the VRC:
When: June 24th Where: Festival Park, Downtown Fayetteville Time: 3-8 pm
Cost: $5.00 admission and $10.00 sampling card to be a judge for the People’s Choice winner
(sample of 10 wings)
Please help us spread the word about what this great event is about! Simply put, it’s a Chicken Wing Cook-off in a family-friendly setting. Our competitor’s “job” is to create the best wings they can bring to the judges’ table and for the community to judge. Two $500 cash prizes will be given: Best Wings per the judges and the People’s Choice Best Wings. So there are two opportunities to WIN! Those that purchase a sampling ticket will get to judge all of the competitor’s wings as they enjoy the rest of the event with vendors, live music, EyeQ Zone, Kid Zone food trucks, and best of all, you will help the visually impaired and blind community in our county.

We need YOU! Beyond the Wing Fling, we need volunteers for summer camps and outings this summer. Please consider joining our team. It’s fun, easy, and you will change lives by helping our blind and visually impaired. If you have questions, please call us or email us at email@example.com
We want to thank the Youth Growth Stock Trust for their generous grant that will help us send our Youth to summer camp. We also want to thank the Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc. for the Summertime Kids Program Grant. Both of these great organizations are allowing our Youth to have education experiences all summer. Also, our local trusts have helped us to provide independent living classes for our Youth during summer camp this year.
Thank you to the Massey Hill Lion’s Club for funding our Adults to attend Camp Dogwood this summer from July 21-August 5. Their generosity makes this camp possible for us!
A Note from Our Executive Director, Terri Thomas:
Congrats to our own, Prince (center) and Thomas Bass (right) with our Board Treasurer Patty Nusbaum and also notetaker at FTCC. WE are so proud of our guys for graduating from Fayetteville Technical Community College!!!!
We are soo excited about the 2nd Annual Out of Sight Wing Fling. The monies raised will help us to provide much-needed independent living skills for our adults and kids. Independent living skills help our participants to do things safely based on their level of vision. What types of things? Cooking, dressing, walking from place to place, organizing their kitchen cabinets, utilizing their washer and dryers, etc. I discuss this with the media and to many people daily, but I don’t think the significance hits home until you really stop and think about it. This type of programming for our summer camp will cost us $1800.00. Consultants cost $70/hr, and this does not include travel and preparation for the classes. Does the state provide? Yes, they do, but due to state guidelines and limited staff, they cannot meet the needs. That’s where we come in. Help us to make this difference in Cumberland and surrounding counties. The Out of Sight Wing Fling event is $5 for general admission or $10.00 to sample and judge. Such a small amount to make a DIFFERENCE to someone who is blind or visually impaired. We love to party with a purpose, so come out and party with us!!!
Until next time,
